Source: texaswatchdog.ning.com --- Thursday, November 05, 2009We've posted a new story this morning about how some Texas state senators are using taxpayer funds to travel in Style. Some story highlights: * Sen. Mario Gallegos, D-Houston, who went on a $3,000 seven-day junket in Maui, staying at a hotel boasting a spa that "sets a new standard for head-to-toe pampering in paradise." * Sen. Robert Duncan, R-Lubbock, who spent more than $15,800 using state planes or for chartered flights. * Sen. Rodney Ellis, D-Houston, who stayed at a Ritz-Carlton in lower Manhattan, which has a spectacular view of Lady Liberty. He racked up a $1,100 bill over two nights. * Sen. John Carona, R-Dallas, who charged the taxpayer $17,000 on mileage reimbursement for using his private plane -- when in many cases a commercial flight would have cost less.
